Unchaining Yourself from Caffeine Addiction Symptoms

I am really convinced that too much caffeine intake poses a great risk to our health. Yes, I admit, I am drinking to much, one for breakfast, another one during my morning snack, another one in the afternoon and sometimes at night. I’ve actually known the risks eversince. I know that it can delay sleep onset, delay total sleep time, alter normal stages of sleep and affect the overall quality of sleep decreased. I also know that increases anxiety ratings and induces panic attacks. Problem is, it’s just that it’s so hard to stop.
When I asked my doctor how to stop, because I am quite confused if should do it abruptly or I should taper it down slowly, he said that it should be done slowly. What is actually being avoided here are the caffeine withdrawal symptoms. It just like drugs and alcohol that after developing physical and psychological dependence, there are also corresponding withdrawal symptoms in the process of trying to stop.
Staying away from coffee, for instance, if not done properly may lead to symptoms like diffuse, throbbing and sometimes severe headache which develops gradually. There may also be fatigue, sluggishness, sleepiness and drowsiness.  Along with this is the impairment in psychomotor, vigilance and cognitive performances. Also affected is one’s motivation to work. On the emotional aspect, these people may experience irritability, anxiety and depression. There may also be flu-like symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, muscle aches, stiffness, hot / cold spells, heavy feelings in arms or legs.)

Having known all these, I just thought why does nature always make stopping a bad habit difficult? Deciding to change in itself is already hard. It’s funny when you have to face another challenge after making that decision. It’s like nature is challenging your decision and your will to stand by that decision.
But anyway, if you are really decided to give your membership in caffeinemania inc., experts say that low dose caffeine (25 mg) can prevent withdrawal symptoms from occurring. Some people denied having experienced withdrawal though because unknowingly, they still consume small amounts of caffeine. Also be careful when discriminating caffeine withdrawal symptoms (headache, nausea, muscle aches) because it can be misattributed to other causes or ailments (e.g., viral infection).
